Customers like the water protection of the tent. They say the rain-fly is sufficient to use it as a backpacking tent, and the true full coverage rain fly is a total bonus. The tent has plenty of room and the rain fly works great for rain and wind. The screen up top allows you to drape wet clothes over it to dry during the day. The floor is covered, so you would have been dry as well, if you had to.

Usually just threw a tarp over me which works on cool nights for water protection but not warm buggy nights when the biters are out and you need water and bug protection
Perfect for bug infested camp sites. Before getting this unit, spent many a night tugging on a sheet, wearing my bug head net or just swatting bugs. This unit stops all that.
Never used it in a real rain storm, but does a great job in heavy dew falls or misting rain
Used mine on several trips. Construction seems good. Too soon tho to make a recommendation, but much better construction than several bug screens I have purchased and tossed in the trash.
Warning, not a perfect fit on most standard cots, I put some parachute cord tie downs on my unit and tie the four corners loosely to my roll a cot standard size cot to keep the system from blowing away. I suggest some sort of tie down especially on western river trips. The unit comes with some velco little straps to secure the unit to the cot, which are pretty much worthless as tie downs on my rollacot. My advice to improve this unit would be some sort of good well placed tent body and tarp grommet and the buyer puts in their own para cord.
July 2016 added review
on colorado river near fruita, CO, I set up my cot and this tent by the river. big time CO lightning, wind, rain came up. I had secured the tent and cot well. Zero problems. Hot night in July so I just had a sheet for cover. Wind driven rain would blow through the rain fly. Came in as a mist. I still think it is a 5 star and worth the money for the insect protection. However in a honest western river wind / rain storm, the fly coating just does not keep you dry. For me I carry a real hi dollar regular tent that can withstand these storms. This setup is great for bug protection and very light dew fall or light rain, but the real western river rain storms will penetrate the fly coating or at least mine did.
Overall, this seems like a good system that covers insect protection and rain protection in a lightweight package that can stand alone, be staked down, or work with a cot. I haven't found anything else that is this versatile. This "tent" will stand on its own without stakes, although it comes with stakes. It was pretty easy to set up, which was good because there were no instructions. I did find it helpful to refer to the photo on the box (or print off a picture from the manufacturer's website)for reference. Note that the mesh is the fine black no-see-um type mesh, not mosquito netting. The tent initially took me about 10 minutes to set up (by myself), but I could probably do it in much less time the next time. It only takes a minute or two to add the rain fly, which seems to secure quite easily to the tent. There is an air gap between the tent and the rain fly, which is good for ventilation.
The materials are all fairly light weight, so I'll definitely need to put a tarp under it to protect the bottom from rocks. The bottom of the tent is made out of the same material as the rain fly.
I am having a hard time picturing how this will work with a military style cot, however it seems like it will sit on top of the cot and be secured by the velcro tabs on the four corners of the tent.
All in all, I am happy with this item and will be putting it in with my other essential travel gear.
The only negative from my perspective is that its a bit on the short side. I am 6 foot 4 inches (194cm). If I lay on my back I fit perfectly. However, I usually sleep on my stomach, which means my feet extend further. I couldnt really do that without my feet going up against the edge of the tent. But after cycling 120 miles a day, I was too tired to care. :)
(he is 5'8") it was not as wide as I would like. BUT, it worked perfectly.
If you have children, or adults that are terrified of bugs this is a great solution for those issues. While the bottom material is not very thick and it looks like it would not be durable, it really is fairly durable. The Zippers were NOT the cheap kind that never work as they performed smoothly and were thicker than some.
I researched other Bug Protection Systems similar to this, and for the money you can't beat it. However, if you are over 6' tall, this probably won't be very comfortable for you.
